This paper presents a method to analyzeelastic deformations and stiffnessin two-dimensional structures withdifferent assembly configurationsamong their elements. Initially, theoptimal structure is obtained throughtopology optimization, and then amethod to analyze different types ofconnections (hinge, flexible and rigidconnections) in structural componentsis developed. Next, two widelydocumented examples are developedand validated. The versatility of themethod and its functionality duringboth the design process and the selectionof the best assembly option aredetermined. This work contributesto analyzing structures with differentinterconnection setups among theirelements. Existing work is complementedthrough both the integrationof topological design and the choice ofthe best setup features for a numberof cases where assembly and designrequirements are related. |
