Contents: BIOME is a mature Internet resource discovery service aimed at students, lecturers, academics, and researchers in higher and further education within the United Kingdom. The environment in which BIOME operates is one that is constantly changing, and to retain its relevance, the service must adapt and update what it offers its users. This article outlines some of the recent challenges that the BIOME service is facing and provides an overview of the some of the activities that the service is undertaking to meet these challenges.
