Titel: Perceived Adequacy of Geriatric Training in a Family Practice Residency Program
Auteur: Peterson, McKim C.
Hansel, Nancy K.
Verschenen in: Gerontology & geriatrics education
Paginering: Jaargang 6 (1986) nr. 1 pagina's 9-15
Jaar: 1986-04-28
Inhoud: A questionnaire was sent to the graduates of the University of Texas at Houston Family Practice Residency Program to assess their preparation for the geriatric's component of their practice. If the graduates practice in a community of 50,000 or less they are very likely to make nursing home visits, but only half of those making visits feel the experience is at least somewhat enjoyable. In general the graduates feel that their preparation was good, but they were poorly prepared for such geriatric requirements as dealing with Medicare and Medicaid, making nursing home visits, and utilizing social support services such as homemakers. The majority feel that the amount of geriatric training should be increased.
