This paper addresses some of the issues faced by an increasing population of older developmentally disabled individuals, and the need for human service practitioners and educators to understand this special population. The paper discusses the need for curriculum development in institutions of higher education to further understand this increasing special population, and one such curriculum on developmental disabilities is outlined. Discussion of the curriculum's implications for the field of gerontology is provided. |
