Community-Based Treatment for Mentally Disordered Juvenile Offenders

Title: Community-Based Treatment for Mentally Disordered Juvenile Offenders
Author: Fagan, Jeffrey
Appeared in: Journal of clinical child and adolescent psychology
Paging: Volume 20 (1991) nr. 1 pages 42-50
Year: 1991-03-01
Contents: Reviews research and current programs for the care and treatment of mentally disordered juvenile offenders. It often happens that state juvenile justice and mental health systems each try to transfer such cases to the other agency. Appropriate procedures must be developed for identifying these youths, selecting a single agency to take the lead in their treatment, and developing a continuum of care including community reintegration. Two model programs are reviewed: New York's Mobile Mental Health Teams and the Willie M. Program in North Carolina.
