Modified dry bed training: A review, critique and case study

Titel: Modified dry bed training: A review, critique and case study
Auteur: Barnett, David W.
Verschenen in: Journal of clinical child and adolescent psychology
Paginering: Jaargang 12 (1983) nr. 2 pagina's 187-191
Jaar: 1983
Inhoud: Many important treatment procedures for urinary incontinence have been widely researched and disseminated, especially the buzzer and pad technique. Since the early 1970s, Azrin and his coworkers have developed the Dry Bed Procedures. Although replications of the original Dry Bed Training procedures have demonstrated success, a variation of Dry Bed Training has made it much less demanding than originally described. Only three validity studies of the modified DBT procedure were located in the literature. No replications were found. Most important, the newer innovations are absent from major reviews. Knowledge of the procedural developments in DBT are important for professional psychologists; they are less radical than other treatments, and have potentially positive consequences for mental health. A successful case study with a four year old girl is used to illustrate and critique the modified procedures.
