The present work is aimed at studying the impact of high-speed draw frame and its preparatory on fibre orientation parameters (evaluated using Lindsley technique) of cotton sliver. The process variables chosen are card draft, coil diameter of card and delivery speed of breaker draw frame. A three-variable factorial design method proposed by Box and Behken has been used. The above said process variables have been optimized in order to obtain the optimum level of sliver characteristics i.e., minimum level of proportion of curved fibre ends [M(ρ)] and maximum level of coefficient of relative fibre parallelization [M(Krp)]. The optimum level of process variables are found to be different for M(ρ) and M(Krp) considering the breaker and finisher sliver. The said orientation parameters are found to be inefficient in analysing the nature of change of sliver tenacity and U% with the change of process variables. |
