A number of derivatives of 4-(α,α -dimethylbenzyl) phenol were synthesized with the general formula: [image omitted] containing various R, R1, and R2 groups Their investigated fungicidal properties are generally rather weak. Only compounds with R = H, R, = R_ = Cl and with R = R, - R∼ = H show a high activity towards Aspergillus niger fungus. None of the compounds discussed was found suitable for further biological testing.
