Trying to Influence Psychologists to Think Otherwise Isn't Easy

Title: Trying to Influence Psychologists to Think Otherwise Isn't Easy
Author: Rychlak, Joseph
Appeared in: Journal of constructivist psychology
Paging: Volume 18 (2005) nr. 4 pages 367-376
Year: 2005-10-01
Contents: Joseph Rychlak provides a commentary and response to the articles from the special issue of the Journal of Constructivist Psychology honoring his work. He describes some of his line of reasoning in developing Logical Learning Theory and emphasizes the importance placed on empirical investigations of his theoretical constructs. In retrospect, he sees the part of his work that has had the most impact on psychology as being his critical theoretical writings, rather than his empirical research. Nonetheless, for psychology to advance, the confusion between theory and method must be addressed. Teleological constructs must be offered and tested via rigorous empirical methods.
