This case study examines leadership succession by focusing on an elected county superintendent of schools. The Gordon and Rosen theoretical model is extended by (1) identifying factors which trigger succession, (2) examining interim appointments, and (3) identifying succession and organizational elements affected by the nature of elected leadership positions. |
