Rahim et at. lpar1988rpar proposed a search algorithm to determine the optimal design of joint X¯ and S2 charts. However, their search algorithm is rather complicated. This limits the application of their method. This paper presents a search algorithm which is implemenlable in real time on a personal computer to obtain the optimal design of joint X¯ and S2 charts. The results and the execution times of all numerical examples show that the search algorithm is accurate and efficient |
