The singular value decomposition (SVD) procedure when applied to the Prony method has proved to be a robust estimator of the poles of an electromagnetic system from its transient response. Two of the major disadvantages of this technique have been eliminated by preprocessing the transient data. Accurate results are obtained for data with low signal-to-noise ratios. Comparisons are made with results that are obtained from other methods of parameter estimation. |
