This paper presents the adaptive reclosing technique as a new concept to reduce the high torsional torques to which the turbine-generator shafts might be subjected during unsuccessful single-pole reclosing. In this context, investigations have been conducted on a detailed benchmark model of a one-machine infinite bus system. The results of these investigations have shown that the high torsional torques induced in the turbine-generator shafts during unsuccessful single-pole reclosing could be avoided by applying the adaptive reclosing technique |
