Contents: The University of Wisconsin Colleges and the Wisconsin Technical College System exist as two distinct components within Wisconsin's higher education structure. The early period in the development of the two - year institutions from 1900 to 1925, the period of change and mild growth from 1933 to 1945, the period following World War II, and the period of explosive growth and then stability from 1960 to present are discussed in the chapter. Included in the story are landmark legislative actions, prominent individuals, and significant occurrences instrumental to the history and development of two - year institutions in Wisconsin.
