ATTITUDINAL AND PERCEPTUAL DIFFERENCES AMONG COMMUNITY COLLEGE EMPLOYEE GROUPS DURING A TIME OF CEO TRANSITION

Titel: ATTITUDINAL AND PERCEPTUAL DIFFERENCES AMONG COMMUNITY COLLEGE EMPLOYEE GROUPS DURING A TIME OF CEO TRANSITION
Auteur: Solis, Enrique

Jaar: 1995-01
Inhoud: Faculty, administrators, and college support staff at a large urban comprehensive community college were surveyed to assess attitudes and perceptions on 16 variables during a time of presidential succession. Respondents were asked to answer under posed conditions of prepermanent CEO and postpermanent CEO. The results of the survey were analyzed by means of multivariate analysis of variance and tests of paired means. Differences in perceptions among the three groups on four of the variables were attributed primarily to faculty. The tests of paired means showed differences in most of the measures for all groups when compared under pre- and postpermanent CEO conditions. The study provided evidence that faculty appear to be most sensitive to stable leadership. Among the three employee groups, they are less willing to take risks and most pessimistic about college effectiveness when stable leadership is missing.
