Inhoud: Nearly 200 dissertations concerning self-directed learning have been completed since 1966. Some of theses dissertations and theses were based on community/ junior college students and faculty. As yet, no meta-analysis of these studies has been reported. Therefore, this study was designed to provide a synthesis of this body of work. As a result eight important conclusions are identified in the analysis and six recommendations are made to community/junior college administrators and researchers. Three recommendations are concerned with instruction and curriculum and three address research.
