Jaar: 1986
Inhoud: A perusal of the literature on the job satisfaction of community college faculty members reveals that most are generally satisfied with their jobs, but many are said to be relatively dissatisfied with certain aspects of their jobs. The present study examined the differential effects of five job satisfaction facets on commitment to the organization and the propensity to leave the job among community college developmental educators within New York State. The results showed that satisfaction with the work itself, promotional opportunities, and co-workers were the most important dimensions in explaining the variance in each dependent variable. Consistent with the finding in previous studies, the intrinsic aspect of the work itself was the chief predictor of organizational and value commitment and the propensity to leave. Implications for organizational and administrative practice are discussed.
