In this article adult senior secondary school students' concepts concerning religious education are investigated. The research data are based on a survey conducted in spring 1999 (N=474) in ten adult senior secondary schools in Finland. The students' concepts of religious education were divided into four dimensions: (1) religious education as a deeper of view of life, (2) religious education with reference to religious action, (3) religious education as a means of obtaining information and as a cultural education and (4) religious education as instrumental in studying. Using variance analysis it was discovered that students of different backgrounds (sex and age) have different concepts. |
