This article considers the effectiveness of an initiative in a secondary school taken to mitigate the effects of an all-male senior management team. We draw up a partial balance sheet of its successes and failures. Chief among its successes was the effect such a wholehearted and positive action had on the women staff in the school and among its failures the problematic nature of an action that went so counter to established structures and processes. We conclude that this local action was of considerable value. |
