A circadian rhythm in blood glucose of normal, intact, standardized male mice is reported. Significant fluctuations of blood glucose during the first and second 24-hr periods after hepatectomy, were observed. These fluctuations were not synchro-nized with the normal rhythm and take place around overall 24-hr average which is much lower than the one observed in normal mice. The phase relationships between the described variations in blood glucose and the animal's feeding patterns are discussed. |
