Some usage patterns and psychometric properties of the Stanford-Binet intelligence test are reported on a sample from two Australian guidance centres. Typically, the test is administered to male children under nine years who are referred for general intelligence tardiness. Because of the pattern of usage, average IQ is, not surprisingly, far below the norm. A two-parameter latent-trait procedure is used to recalibrate the test and suggestions are made for improving the administration of the test, and for further research based on tailored testing. |
