THE IMPORTANCE AND ASSESSMENT OF FINAL YEAR PROJECTS: CASE STUDIES FROM AFRICA

Titel: THE IMPORTANCE AND ASSESSMENT OF FINAL YEAR PROJECTS: CASE STUDIES FROM AFRICA
Auteur: Jackson, E. A.
Verschenen in: Assessment and evaluation in higher education
Paginering: Jaargang 12 (1987) nr. 2 pagina's 83-93
Jaar: 1987
Inhoud: The importance of final year projects in electrical/electronics engineering education cannot be over emphasised. A fair assessment of these projects is therefore essential. Unfortunately assessing projects can be very subjective if no proper guidelines are given. This is actually the case in some institutions where there may be a yawning gap between the marks given by two examiners to the same project. Marks obtained by the students may also not relate to their effort and achievements. Guidelines for achieving a more uniform project assessment are given here. Approaches to project assessment at the Department of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, University of Science and Technology, (U.S.T.), Kumasi, Ghana and at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, are discussed.
