Factors relating to the solubility of hydrocarbons in formation water, with particular reference to the Precipice Sandstone of the Surat Basin, are discussed. It is suggested that a possible mechanism for the migration and accumulation of crude oil and natural gas in the Surat Basin has been the solution and transportation of hydrocarbons in formation water under hydrodynamic conditions. The Moonie structure is presented as a model. |
