Empowerment of families in the context of the termination process is examined from a structural/strategic perspective. The traditional structural/strategic orientation of viewing the family as separate from the therapist is critiqued and reformulated to view the therapist/family relationship as an interactional system. Interventions are presented which reverse the interactional sequence between therapist and client and alter the therapist/client hierarchy to one of egalitarianism. |
