This paper addresses a way in which supervisors help therapists-in-training become competent in the practice of family therapy. The concept of "circular hearing" is discussed to help beginning therapists and supervisors as they mutually engage in the therapy/training process. A case study is presented to illustrate the authors' work with therapists-in-training. The concept of "circular hearing" is presented as only one of many techniques which may prove beneficial during the developmental process leading to "becoming a therapist." |
