Contents: This paper reports on a research study that assessed the current use of marketing strategy by pharmacists. The objectives were to describe pharmacists' use of strategic marketing activities and to see if the behavior of certain types of pharmacy retailers differs. Results show significant differences in strategy usage among pharmacy types. In particular, neighborhood pharmacies are less likely to implement activities that would give them a unique position in the market. Suggestions for marketing strategy are given on the basis of these findings.
