Raw data imported into statistical packages can expand primary empirical research in fields such as economies, political science, social psychology, and sociology. Data archives have evolved from the days of punch cards to today's distribution of data sets over the Internet and have become primary research tools for social scientists. Gateway libraries are being formed to complement the use and distribution of these archival data sets as librarians combine library skills with computer and statistical skills. |
