While “freedom shock”1 has paralyzed the post-communist Russia, the Western triumphalism seems muffled by the state of a society “poised on the brink of self-destruction.”2 In the labyrinths of post-industrial development, life across nations is still mired in the banality of new and age-old problems: AIDS, poverty, unemployment, inequality, corruption, lassitude, war, crime, intolerance, and bigotry. The specter of new global development is both a challenge and illusion. This paper examines aesthetico-axiological bases of new global welfare.
