Inhoud: Herr Lingsch began by giving an account of the present and planned productions of the Institute in Munich and touching on the considerations and views which led to their type of productions. The sequence of Film-picture-sound begins, in subjects such as Geography and Science, with the medium of the moving picture, which is so essential to them. In modern languages the acoustic media are the more important aids. A pioneering experiment in the use of film in modern language teaching took place in Austria in 1943. Annie Stucker-Krauszler used the silent puppet film The Race between the Hare and the Hedgehog for conversation exercises in teaching English. Without there being a direct connection, Gerald Fleming has been using the silent 8mm loop film for some years. In short cartoon films he presents brief episodes of everyday life in France.
