Reactions of lithium salts of the bulky guanidinate ligands, [ArNC(NR_{2})NAr]^{-} (R=C_{6}H_{11} (Giso^{-}) or Pr^{i} (Priso^{-})) with BBr_{3} have given the neutral complexes [Br_{2}B(Giso)] and [Br_{2}B(Priso)]. The reaction of [Br_{2}B(Giso)] with GaBr_{3} led to bromide abstraction and the formation of the ion separate salt, [BrB(Giso)][GaBr_{4}]. All compounds have been spectroscopically and crystallographically characterized. |
