Inhoud: A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a network formed without any central administration which consists of mobile nodes that use a wireless interface to send packet data. MANETs are extremely flexible and each node is free to move independently, in any random direction. Each node in MANET maintains continuously the information required to properly route traffic. This paper is a survey of mobility models that are used in the simulations of ad hoc networks. The goal of this paper is to provide a systematic and comprehensive comparative analysis of Synthetic Entity Mobility Models. We present simulation results that illustrate the importance of choosing a mobility model in the simulation of an ad hoc network protocol. Specifically, we point up how the performance results of an ad hoc network protocol drastically change as a result of changing the mobility model simulated. Performance analysis and comparison include much of all the three mobility models results based on performances metric which are Routing Overhead, Throughput and Packet Delivery Ratio with fixed value of speed and various number of nodes.
