The Anatomy Teaching Assistants are a vital part of the faculty at an Anatomy Chair, because they are the ones that carry out most of the teaching of the practical work. The aim of this paper – which was conducted in one of the three Chairs of Anatomy of the School of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires - is to document which is the profile of the anatomy teaching assistants, and which are their expectations and motivations regarding Medicine and teaching, in order to properly address the teaching-learning process of their continuing education and adapt both the planning of work as well as the content of the assistants’ school. On this study 94 surveys to anatomy teaching assistants where carried out when they finished their annual training. All the data that was obtained is tabulated, interrelated and the findings are finally analyzed. It follows from this analysis that the assistants met most of their expectations at the Chair, through an ordered and systematic formation, gradually achieving a teaching model of their own, and developing themselves as learning guides: they orientate, lead, educate and transmit. |
