Studies were conducted to find the effect of hormoligant (sub-lethal doses of insecticides) on brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens(Stal). The LC50 value of Ripcord 10EC both for 3<SUPER>rd</SUPER> and 5<SUPER>th</SUPER> instar nymphs of BPH was 0.0000142%. The LC50 value of Dimecron 100WSC and Diazinon 60EC for 5<SUPER>th</SUPER> instar nymphs of BPH were 0.00001987 and 0.000651%. But the effect of hormoligant (i.e. the effect of LC50and LC10 dosages of Diazinon 60EC on the test populations) was observed in 1<SUPER>st</SUPER>, 2<SUPER>nd</SUPER>, 5<SUPER>th</SUPER>, and 6<SUPER>th</SUPER> generations of the treated populations; i.e. the populations in LC10 in BPH resistant (BRRI dhan 31) and susceptible varieties (BR 3) increased at the above generations compared to LC50 populations of BPH. |
