Study of the Relationschip between Agricultural Production Price and Consumption Price in Ex Province of Butare/Rwanda. This work consists of the study of price transmission in three agricultural chains: eggplant, bean and sorghum. This study has the objective of characterizing causalities between agricultural production price and consumption price. It uses time series extracted from the database of the CRISER (Centre for Research and Information in Rural Socio-Economy). This database is composed of data on commercialization of agricultural products in Butare exprovince. The use of cointegration methods shows that there is price transmission from production level to consumption level. Variations in production price do affect consumption price. The transmission elasticities are generally low for all agricultural chains. They vary, on average, from 0.19% to 0.22%. The elasticity of transmission is relatively low (0.19%) for eggplant agricultural chain and relatively high (0.22%) for bean agricultural chain. |
