Coffee is the common name of seeds from bushes of the genus Coffea, family Rubiaceae, whose cultivation is of great agricultural and commercial importance on the world. This plant is exposed to various biotic and abiotic stress that can affect its performance and productivity, causing considerable economic losses. Because of this, there have been several investigations focused on its improving both by traditional methods such as genetic engineering. In this paper, a review was conducted on basic aspects of the application of molecular biology techniques and tissue culture for the development of resistance to biological and physical factors affecting the coffee. |
