A greenhouse experiment was carried out in order to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of Bradyrhizobium sp. –Gliricidia sepium symbiosis. The experimental design was a split block, with three replicas and forty combinations oftreatments: five Bradyrhizobium strains TAL-4, TAL-5, TAL-6, TAL-7 and TAL-1770; non inoculated seedlings; noninoculated seedlings fertilized with 80 kg N.ha-1; seedlings grown in sterile soil and fertilized with 80 kg N.ha-1 ; and G.sepium cultivars: San Vicente, Tunapuy, Caripito, Copey and Canchunchu. After four months plants were harvested.Chlorophyll (a + b) concentration, nodules and plant dry weights; N in leaves, roots, nodules and total N were determined.TAL-4 yielded the highest chlorophyll (a + b) (9.03 mg/l/plant). Non inoculated plants fertilized with 80 kg N.ha-1 producedthe highest dry weight of nodules (134.77 mg), total dry weight (11. 67 g) and total N (22.90 mg/plant). The percentages ofN in leaves, roots and nodules were not statistically different. There was significant difference in the interactionBradyrhizobium – Gliricidia in any of the evaluated variables.
