The present investigation was based in an analysis agronomic, social and economic of taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.)Schott), in the Bolívar County of Monagas State, where a producer group was financed by FONCRAMO, during cultivationcycle 2001-2002. The study area was constituited by the following locations: La Acequia, San Miguel, Los Morros, ElVeintiuno and Los Kilómetros de Caripito, where a survey was applied to 20 producer sample, that was selected by randomand simple form. Crop exploitation is practiced of conuco form, the producers carried out the traditional cultural practiceslike the tree-felling and fire, incorporating to these, some technical practices which are very unusual by producers, likefertilization and chemical weed control that was combined with manual weed control. These practices were carried out in a65 %. Taro production was 638,000 kg from 38 sowing hectares. |
