The study of incomes and population’s consumption is a true challenge. It is important to study, on one hand, their macro-social origin (such as society in its entirety, society per areas, per human communities) and, on the other hand, their micro-social origin (at community level, at household level, at individual level). Different studies carried out after 1990 emphasised the drastic diminution of the macro-economic resources of the standards of living during the first decade of the transition to market economy. The level and distribution of gross incomes of the Romanian population show the precariousness of living conditions at a general level and important gaps between the urban and the rural areas. |
