The aim of this study was to summarize the mechanisms of foam destruction by antifoams and the influence of various factors on this phenomenon. For this purpose, first the so-called bridging mechanisms together with spreading-fluid entrainment mechanism are discussed then the importance of various factors such as oil viscosity, the presence of hydrophobic particles within compound antifoams and concentration of antifoams is discussed from the viewpoint of the mechanisms of antifoaming. |
