This ex post facto study intends to detect common ways of coping in people infected by AIDS with a drug addiction case history and who live in a situation of social exclusion. This sampling has been made with 105 male participants who come from the Comunidad Autónoma Andaluza divided in four groups: a) 30 people with AIDS infection, with a drug addiction case history by parenteral means (ADVP) and who live in a condition of social exclusion. b) 30 people with ADVP case history and in a situation of social exclusion; c) 15 people in a condition of social exclusion; and d) 30 people in a condition of social adaptation. Their completed an author-designed semi-structured interview and the Questionary of Coping Style of Lazarus and Folkman. The results that we get from the questionary point out that there is not a specific coping style in the studied population. These results could be interpreted in two ways: on the one hand, there may be not common coping style in the different groups, on the other hand, may be the material used to measure these coping style is not valid enough for the studied population. The results are discussed according to both interpretations. |
