The main purpose of this study is to determine theefficiency and proficiency of the womenenterpreneurs as a source of social capital. Thesources of social capital considered in this studyare women’s socio-demographic and personalcharacteristics and the sources of information andskillls employed during the stages of establishingand operating their businesses. This study has beenconducted with 224 women entrepereneurs whohave been registered by Mersin Union of Chambersof Tradesman and Artisans. The data gathered byasking some key questions to participants andgiving them a constructed questoinnaire within face to face interview sessions. It has been found thatwomen entrepreneurs could use variety of socialcapital resources both setting up and maintainingtheir business, and integrate these resources withtheir entrepreneual characteristics. It should benoted that their abilities to use formal and informalinformation resources can support and activatesolidarity feelings among them, and increase theirintentions to be organized within the womenassociations. |
