Labdane diterpenes were isolated from the algae Oedogonium capillare using bio-guided fractionation. The compounds were determined to be Labdan 8α,13α diol and labdan 8α-ol-15-acetoxy, their structures were characterized by analysis of spectroscopic data. Isolated compounds elicited activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. |
