Appeared in: Analele Universitatii Bucuresti. Chimie
Paging: Volume XII (2003) nr. I-II pages 173-182
Year: 2003
Contents: This review presents some examples obtained by molecular techniques in the study ofnon-ionic reverse micelles of poly(ethylene oxide) type surfactants: tetraethylene glycol mono-ndodecylether (C12E4), Triton X-100, and triblok copolymers poly(ethylene oxide)-blockpoly(propylene oxide)-block- poly(ethylene oxide) (L62 and L64 Pluronics). By using specificspectral parameters of spin, fluorescence and UV-VIS probes the microenvironmentcharacteristics: polarity, viscosity and order degree in reverse micelle were investigated. Thepolarity data were expressed in a common scale, to be able to compare the results obtained usingdifferent spectroscopic methods. The aggregation number of the micelles has been obtained fromtime-resolved fluorescence quenching method.
