O artigo discute as contribuições da sociologia da ciência contemporânea para o exercício da cidadania científica nas democracias modernas. Pretende-se apresentar os pontos de ruptura propostos por essa abordagem sociológica em relação às epistemologiasclássicas e contemporâneas de orientação lógico-formal-racionalista que contribuem para a difusão de uma concepção fundamentada nas noções de neutralidade e objetividade. O texto conclui que, ao incorporar variáveis sociológicas na análise do procedimento científico, a sociologia da ciência favorece o estabelecimento de uma visão crítica sobre essa forma de conhecimento e pode favorecer a participação do cidadão comum nos processos de tomadasde decisões que envolvem assuntos científicos e tecnológicos.The article discusses the contributions of contemporary sociology of science to the exercise of scientific citizenship in modern democracies. We present the rupture points proposed by this sociological approach in relation to classic and contemporary epistemologies that contribute to the diffusion of a conception based on the notions of neutrality and objectivity. The text concludes that, when incorporating sociological variables in the analysis of the scientific procedure, the sociology of science favors the establishment of a critical vision on that knowledge form, and can favor the common citizen’s participation in the processes ofdecisions that involve scientific and technological subjects. |
