Contents: From the standpoint of human activities the area of Silica plateau is a part of Slovak karst, which is used in the most intensive way. The extension and the way of using area and plateau resource activate a lot of interactions between technical works, human activities and the geological environment. An evaluation of the sensitivity of rocks and the vulnerability of the rock environment after the STN 443704 classification standards were realised as a part of the geological research of the Silica plateau environment. The rocks forming the plateau structure are typed to four lithological formations and they all belong to the group of sensitive rocks. A lower terrigenous formation is compose of rocks which are integrated in to the class NC – medial sensitive, VC – highly sensitive and EC – extremely highly sensitive; the limestone – dolomite’s formation is created by rocks from the class MC – soft sensitive, NC and VC; the molasse formation is made by rocks in the class VC and the quarternary cover formation by rocks from the class VC and the EC. A substantial part of Silica plateau is integrated to the 3. vulnerability degree – medial vulnerable environment. Parts of the area with the limestone dominion, in case of intensive karstication, and travertine are integrated to the 2.degree – highly vulnerable environment. We integrated the area made by dolomites to the 4. the vulnerability degree – soft vulnerable environment. This work was realised as a part of the grant project VEGA No. 1/6090/99
