This editorial considers a unique pair of papers written by an analyst and his patient describing their journey during an analytic treatment in which the analyst suffered from a serious head injury. Drs. Brickman and Jacobs are to be commended for their honesty and bravery in describing this remarkable mutual process of recovery and healing and for their willingness to allow it to be exposed to others for their consideration. These accounts present a striking example of both mutuality and asymmetry in the analytic relationship and of intimacy, tenderness, and growth that evolved through this process. However, their account may also serve as a vehicle to raise questions about the limits of asymmetry and informed consent in the psychoanalytic situation and about the process of adjudication, protection, and professional regulation that should occur when an analyst becomes disabled. Este editorial comenta estos dos articulos tan particulares escritos por un analista y su paciente describiendo el trayecto durante un tratamiento analitico en el que el analista sufrio un grave traumatismo craneal. Los doctores Brickman y Jacobs merecen nuestra felicitacion por su honestidad y coraje al describir este proceso mutuo de recuperacion y cura tan notable, y por su disposicion a que otros lo podamos compartir y evaluar. Estos relatos presentan un ejemplo impactante de mutualidad y asimetria en la relacion analitica, y de la intimidad, ternura y crecimiento que surgieron a partir de este proceso. Sin embargo su relato puede tambien servir para plantearnos preguntas sobre los limites de la asimetria y del consentimiento informado en la situacion psicoanalitica, y sobre el proceso de capacitacion, proteccion y regulacion profesional que se deberia dar cuando un analista queda discapacitado. Cette redaction considere une paire unique d'articles ecrits par un analyste et sa patiente decrivant leur parcours pendant le traitement analytique lorsque l'analyste a subi une blessure serieuse a la tete. Drs Brickman et Jacobs doivent etre louanges pour leur honnetete et leur bravoure dans la description de ce remarquable processus de retablissement et de guerison mutuels, et pour leur volonte a permettre de l'exposer a la consideration des autres. Ces recits presentent un exemple frappant a la fois de mutualite et d'asymetrie dans la relation analytique, et d'intimite, de tendresse et de croissance decoulant de ce processus. Toutefois, leur recit peut aussi servir de vehicule pour soulever des questions au sujet des limites de l'asymetrie et du consentement eclaire dans la situation analytique et au sujet du processus de jugement, de protection et de regulation professionnelle qui devraient survenir lorsqu'un analyste devient incapacite. Die vorliegende Ausgabe beschaftigt sich mit einem einzigartigen Paar zusammenhangender Arbeiten, in denen ein Analytiker und seine Patientin ihre Reise durch die analytische Behandlung beschreiben, in der der Analytiker unter einer schweren Kopfverletzung gelitten hat. Dr. Brickman und Dr. Jacobs verdienen besonderes Lob fur ihre Ehrlichkeit und ihren Mut, diesen bemerkenswert gegenseitigen Prozess von Wiederherstellung und Heilung zu beschreiben und ihre Bereitschaft, diesen Weg darzustellen und sich damit den Uberlegungen anderer auszusetzen. Questo articolo prende in considerazione una coppia di articoli unica, scritti da un analista e dalla sua paziente per descrivere il loro viaggio nel corso di una terapia analitica durante la quale l'analista ha subito un grave danno alla testa. Il Dottor Brickman e la Dottoressa Jacobs devono essere ammirati per la loro onesta e coraggio nel descrivere questo straordinario processo mutuo di recupero e cura e per la loro volonta di renderne partecipi anche altre persone. Questi resoconti presentano un esempio toccante sia della mutualita che dell'asimmetria nella relazione analitica, e dell'intimita, tenerezza e crescita che si e sviluppata attraverso questo processo.
