This article addresses how a child gains a sense of self. It considers the source of Renee's pathological identities. The therapist's challenge to discover an authentic Renee required her constrained mirroring and idealization in the early phase of this treatment of a massively traumatized patient. Finally, this article explores the author's view of the messages contained in each of the four dreams reported. |
