Broeggerolithus is a common member of Caradoc shelly faunas in Britain but only in the later part of its range did it reach Scandinavia where it is represented by B. discors (Angelin) in Norway and a closely allied form, here termed B. aff. discors, in Sweden. All available Scandinavian material is described and is of approximately Woolstonian to Actonian age. It differs from the British species primarily in its very irregular E2 arc development and in some of the Norwegian specimens having pits present in E3. |
