An in vitro culture of Lithospermum erythrorhizon Sieb. et Zucc. was studied to detemine factors that would initiate organogenesis and pigment synthesis. Callus formation occurred more frequently with in vitro shoot cultures than in leaf cultures. The number of shoots formed increased with an increase in cytokinin content of the culture medium. Root initiation increased when shoot cuttings were dipped in indolebutyric acid. Both cold temperatures and indolebutyric acid treatments increased pigment formation. |
