Effect of Planting Time and Density on Yields from Rooted Mint Cuttings

Title: Effect of Planting Time and Density on Yields from Rooted Mint Cuttings
Author: Zheljazkov, V.
Topalov, V.
Appeared in: Journal of herbs, spices & medicinal plants
Paging: Volume 4 (1997) nr. 3 pages 15-24
Year: 1997-04-24
Contents: Field experiments, were conducted with Mentha × piperita Clone No 1 and cv. Zephir and Mentha arvensis L. spp. piperescens cv. Mentolna 14 to establish the optimal values for time of planting and plant density when propagated with rooted cuttings. In general, yields of fresh material and essential oil were enhanced by planting on September 1 and by increasing the planting density. Although the choice of planting date and planting density caused some changes in menthol content of oils, the oils remained within quality limits for the tested cultivars.
